The single biggest differentiator between an average CV and an interview-winning CV is quantification.
The Google X-Y-Z Formula
Google's recruiters famously recommend phrasing bullet points using this structure:
"Accomplished [X], as measured by [Y], by doing [Z]."
Before & After Examples:
-
Weak: "Responsible for managing company social media accounts."
-
Strong: "Grew organic LinkedIn audience by 140% in 6 months by developing a weekly engineering thought-leadership campaign."
-
Weak: "Helped customers with tech support tickets."
-
Strong: "Resolved 65+ technical support tickets daily with a 98.4% customer satisfaction rating, ranking #1 in team performance."
Categorizing Your Skills Section
Don't dump 30 random words into one big block. Group them logically:
- Core Technical: PHP, Laravel, TypeScript, Vue.js, Tailwind CSS
- Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS EC2, Docker, CI/CD Pipelines, Redis, MySQL
- Methodologies: Agile / Scrum, TDD, Clean Architecture, REST APIs
